Location Research

The research that I have carried out for the locations that we have used is very useful; this is because I have personally gone out to look for the locations that would be suitable to film in for our opening sequence. I have had a rough idea of what types of areas I was looking for and therefor I knew that I didn’t have to go far to find what I want.  The area we live in is perfectly suitable for our film this is because our opening sequence is a character stealing money and running of into side roads; this area is very similar to what I had in my mind and therefore suited out purpose well. I have found out an abandoned are which has brick walls, empty space, fences and many different aspects which indicate that it’s a rundown area; this place was ideal for our sequence as we had a plan for the main character to run around jumping of things showing off his skills and this area has helped us to do that.

Another location which we had to look for to fit the purpose of the opening sequence is a cash machine; this was very difficult as this cash machine had to be positioned in the middle of a high street to have easy access to the close by locations. After some time of searching we found a perfect place; however when we started to record we had some problems with the bank that owned the cash machine as it’s against the law to record a cash point due to fraud reasons. This location therefore has caused us some problems and we could not finish our filming in this location and we could not do it on another day as we did not have had the time to do so. Although the shots that we took were enough for the opening sequence.

It was really important that the locations were chosen very carefully and that they matched the sequence of the film. The locations also improved the quality of the film; this is because at the locations the filming that took place was all planned and it all suited it purpose.

Comparing the locations to an existing media product has no similarities; this is because all the successful media films have their own locations that they are able to modify and make it to suit its purpose however we were not able to modify out location as it does not belong to us; this has made the filming a little bit harder however it was still possible to complete the filming.
