Our Preliminary Task
This is our final production of our Preliminary Task, we as a group feel confident that this can lead us on to finalising our final piece.
We have found some errors throughout the short clip but hopefully we can learn from our mistakes and produce an outstanding piece of work. The errors throughout clip have been noted and our group now understands the concepts needed throughout the coursework to aim for the higher band grades.
Our group as a whole feel that we have done amazingly well for our first preliminary task as we have not really recognized the feature in iMovie and have struggled but we are overcoming the situation and we have proved that we have what it takes to progress further in A Level Media Studies on a whole.
I hope our audience are impressed by our work that we have produced and can see how far we have progressed throughout our media clips.
These attached scenes are the ones we chose to delete due to many reasons, one reason is that we felt them not suitable enough to be on our final piece and the other factor was mistakes me made when shooting these scenes.
As students we were not able to preform high standard acting skills and therefore some of the scenes took us many takes due to the lack of in experienced acting. However as we had the opportunity to retake most of the scenes with time came the right moments and the final product demonstrates that.
The duration of some of the takes may have taken us longer than others, as they were much harder to film as we were insecure about some of the angles used at that point which led us to to take many camera shots. This has benefited us in many different ways as we discovered that different angles and techniques can create different effects on the shot, which then creates a reaction from the audience.
The location of our preliminary task took place in our school, this is because after long hours of looking for a good location we have not discovered anything this meant that we wasted our valuable time of recording on looking for a place that has not been found. However our school was the last option and it has served its purpose we have filmed the task in school and it has come out very good .

Main task
This is our final media product for our main task. We have filmed this video on many different occasions this is because the video was to complex to be filmed on one day as there were many different factors which have affected the time in which we filmed this video.
One factor which has affected the time in which this video was filmed is the equipment; by equipment I mean that the battery life of the camera was not very long and therefore we had to film what we could then recharge the battery so we could film again. This has been a small disadvantage to our project as it meant that we had less time to record and we had to use more days to record the movie.
Another factor which added to the number of days that we have used to record the film is the weather; this was an external factor to our production as this factor was not determined by any person in the group however it was the nature. This has affected the time in which we completed the task as we wanted to make the movie as professional as we could and therefore all the shots should of been made in the same weather conditions. On some days the weather was stopping us from recording the movie as on some days the weather was different than others and therefore the movie would not look good if in some shots there was sunny weather and in others there was rain. Although we were lucky to get enough days which allowed us to film all out scenes in time and in the same weather conditions.

Media Institutions
Media Institutions
There are many institutions who have decided to include action movies under the schedules as they feel that the introduction of action packed films is gaining a much wider audience.
An action film is mainly produced by physical and demanding actions, this may include explosions, fighting, running or even just car chases. In order to have a great a great action packed film you will have to include high levels of energy and different camera angles and shots.
Action films made their mark in the late 1970’s as before this generation it was not really a type of genre anyone would have liked to watch.
People may say that the action film genre is closely linked to Thriller and Adventure films which is why it failed to come through until the 1970’s but it includes sub genres of Spy Fiction (was a sub-genre derived from the novel during the nineteenth century) and Espionage (involves an individual obtaining information that is considered secret or confidential without the permission of the holder of the information).
Many institutions have a great idea on how to create action film genres, as this is now attracting more of an audience.

Opening Scene Analysis - The Transporter
Opening Scene Analysis
I have chosen to analyse the film Transporter as this opening sequence has many great varieties of techniques that are being used throughout it. The film itself is full of action as it contains fighting, driving and many action scenes.
The opening scene is made to make the audience feel as if they don’t really know what is happening, it gives the opening sequence a sense of mystery as the audience can not quite tell what is going on as all they can see is one character and a car and yet do we discover anything about him till later on into the opening sequence. This relates to our group work as we only have one character at the beginning of out sequence which give the same indication to our audience as they are trying to figure who this character is and why is he running.
The camera is always tracking the character as this also gives an indication to the audience that this character may play a great role in this film as the tracking of his face and body indicates to the audience that he has an intimidating role in the film. This is equivalent to our piece as the audience do not see another character until later on in our sequence when the other character is introduced we tried to get an idea of this sequence by me viewing this footage to my group which is why we used the idea of tracking the character as the mystery of this sequence makes the audience feel as if they are going straight into the film rather than letting them think about the sequence you pack the opening sequence up with many shots so that the adrenaline of our audience will be raised.
The introduction of a new character comes as a shock as the audience who are watching the Transformer feel as if the begging sequence will only be about this one characters but then the introduction of the new character comes as a great shock as the audience never expected this outcome as the shot happened in a space of five seconds which at this stage gave the audience the mixed indications of what’s happening. In relation to ours we decided to introduce another character later on the sequence, as we wanted the same effect to happen when the audience were viewing ours.
The mystery of out opening sequence is planned by watching the transformer s opening sequence as we decided that we wanted to have an action packed opening sequence as this would draw the attention of our audience immediately and we felt that by inserting different shots that we would be able to achieve this.

Locations and Costumes
Locations and Costumes
Filming Industries have to shoot specific scenes based around action films as this specific shot maybe suited to their preferred choices. Film Industries are not really worried about finding specific locations but they are worried about the lack of funds available as these shots will need some sort of money income to support them and if money is not available then they will need to make a plan b and move on to a different locations suited to their budget.
Canada is a preferred choice to shoot action films as it has the same structure and culture as America but the difference is that film industries are shooting clips here for a cheaper budget than shooting in America.
X-Men
The Incredible Hulk
Mr and Mrs Smith
The Locations We Chose
We had chosen the high street as it was the busiest venue around our area and we needed it to look like the begging of any other action film which is why we chose this specific place. I thought the specific locations we chose suited the way we had included this structure in our beginning sequence.
We felt that we had to watch out when we were recording as there was some dangers to how we were recording as we were filming a bank scene which may have had bad consequences as people would not have know we were filming for a school project which may have led to police getting involved but luckily enough nothing happened and we were able to film our introduction completely.
I felt that our location was great as it was shot in an urban area which had its negatives but we got through it, but overall the location was excellent as the busy paths made our introduction more realistic but unique.

Actors Associated with Action Films
Actors Involved in Action Films
There are many actors who are involved throughout shooting action films and that also just specifically appear in action films. Awards are being won yearly for the outstanding acting skills and audience who specifically watch these action films.
Angelina Jolie
She has starred in many action films as is now known for awesome acting in action films, Films such as Mr and Mrs Smith and Tomb Raider made Angelina custom to action packed films as people now saw her as a major stunt woman in the film industry.
Has been in action packed film since his career began as his muscular presence has made him that dominant role in these action films. People say that Arnold was born to star in films based around hard hitting nonstop action.
Will Smith
People have said that he was not suited to action films but his career progressed into starring in action films and now he has become a natural figure role in these specific films.
Jessica Biel
Made to be the sweetheart of action films as her sensitive look deceives people and she makes everyone lose their head. She also is one of the top girl actors in action films which is why the role she plays in these films suits her.

Actors
The actors that were have used in our movie were not professional paid actors and therefore they did not pride us the highest standards in their acting due to the lack of experience. The lack of experience meant that the filming took longer as the actors did not do perform their jobs properly and failed to act properly. This took time and meant that we had less time to do our other tasks and therefore meant that we had less time to complete everything else.
Comparing our actors to the actors in the real industry is very different this is because the actors in the real industry get paid for all the acting they do and therefore they complete their tasks in a much higher standards. However in our movie the actors that we used were ourselves this meant that we had to film act and do everything by ourselves; we did not have people to help with the things we did.
We also had a disadvantage to our group this is because we only had three members in the group; this meant that we had more jobs to do. Allowing a person to do many things at the same time means that they cannot concentrate on one thing and therefore not perform to their highest standards.
As we had three people in our group it meant that the actors had to get ready by themselves which took time and therefore lost time in the production on the movie. The actors we had did not have anyone to take care of them and therefore this did not motivate our actors to perform at their highest standards.
